Rostima launches QueuePlanner

New module optimises staff scheduling efficiencies.

London UK – 12th July 2005: Rostima Ltd, a global leader in the development and supply of Enterprise Workforce Management solutions, has announced the launch of QueuePlanner, an easy to use module which optimises customer-facing staff scheduling.

Rostima developed QueuePlanner in close collaboration with TACA Airlines. TACA’s extensive experience and detailed knowledge of international airline operations combined with Rostima’s software innovation to produce a practicable optimisation tool for airport passenger services departments. Rostima has extended the module to address the similar needs of call centers, retail businesses and other organisations where high standards of customer service are also a priority.

QueuePlanner calculates optimal check-in positions and staffing based on average transaction times and maximum queue wait times. The proven Erlang C queuing algorithm then rapidly calculates the number of staff required based on forecasted customer/passenger volumes and the service standards required for each type of customer.

For airlines, resource requirements can be defined down to the individual flight level to provide airport service operators with maximum flexibility in how they staff check-in desks. QueuePlanner is fully integrated with the Rostima Scheduler and DutyManager tools so that staff can be optimally planned, scheduled and tracked on the day. If there are changes in passenger volumes, staffing can be automatically recalculated to reflect the updated information.

"QueuePlanner was on Rostima’s product roadmap for the past 18 months following a number of requests from customers in the aviation, retail and call centre sectors,” explained Geoff Bentley, Rostima Software Development Manager.

“When TACA Airlines asked if we could bring this development forward we agreed given the chance to develop it for a leading airline in the Americas. Working with a customer as a partner on these types of development projects is something that Rostima prides itself on. We have had similar success developing modules for other blue chip organisations such as P&O and the Compass Group. It provides a win-win, as the customer gets a tailored module based on their business requirements and we strengthen our product offering for the general market ".
